Oktoberfest is the world’s largest beer festival and it is held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. It all started in 1810, where Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen, and all of the citizens were invited to the celebration. Since then, the festival has grown to include horse races, games, rides, music, and most importantly beer. The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture and many cities across the world hold Oktoberfest celebrations.
This year Awesome Events brings you a taste of Bavarian culture at Dock X in Canada Water. As an Oktoberfest rule the beer that is drunk throughout the festival is only allowed to come from one of Munich’s 5 brewery’s. However we are proud to be serving the world’s largest wheat beer brewery Erdinger Weißbier – a golden cloudy beer (alc 5.3%, white/cream label) known all around Germany and Europe.
With Dock X covered in the blue and white Bavarian flags they are made to represent the pure and beautiful lakes and rivers of Bavaria. Derived from the lozengy coat-of-arms of the Wittelsbach family, that ruled Bavaria for centuries.
